Abstract

Memory of the past depends on the political situation that determines its nature and direction. Today views about the role of the USSR in the victory over Nazism are distorted due to changes in the international situation. This fact is confusing and disturbing, but it is also alarming that in the context of information wars the material evidence of the respect suffers. The respect that direct participants in the tragic military events showed to the Soviet victorious soldiers-from the ordinary soldiers to the military commanders. Memorials to liberators located in different countries of Eastern Europe become objects of mockery.
