Abstract

The article considers military feats of the staff of the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. Both employees and postgraduates who were members of the Institute of Philosophy in June 22, 1941, and left the Institute for the War are counted, as well as those who took part in the War and came to work at the Institute after it was over. These are famous philosophers and common researchers. The object of analysis is the award lists, which contain a description of military feats. Award lists are posted on the Internet resource of the United Data Bank “Podvig Naroda”, created by the Ministry of defense of the Russian Federation. The article is based on the types of Armed Forces and branches of the armed forces. Review of military feats allows one to take a new look at the people we know. At the same time, it is very thought provoking and may help to understand how and where the state can use philosophers in times of war.
