Abstract

In the XIX century a conspiracy theory was widely spread: as if W. Shakespeare did not exist in reality and behind the pseudonym was a completely different person or people to whom the immortal works belong. The view of Russian philologist and critic Yevgeny Anichkov (he opened the “Shakespeare question” for Russian criticism) on the problem of Shakespeare's authenticity is characterized by scientific evidentiary and accuracy.
