International academic conference “Krakow meetings. Semen Frank: The Philosophy of Absolute Realism” (May 19– 22, 2021. Overview)
Abstract
The conference of the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow was held on May 19–22, 2021 with the support of the Tula Theological Seminary and the “House of Frank in Saratov”. The May meeting was focus on the life and work of Russian philosopher Semen Frank. The main experts gathered in the Tula region to discuss topical problems of Russian religious philosophy, share the results of archival research, and exchange scientific experiences. Scientists have revealed some aspects of the philosophical system of S. L. Frank, in particular, his religious philosophy, concepts of the state, and social interaction. The main group of speakers focused on comparative research, which allowed Frank‘s philosophy to be viewed in a broader European intellectual context. The life story of the philosopher was not ignored too. Due to the work with unknown archival documents, gaps in the scientific and personal Frank’s biography were filled. Presentations of scientific publications on Russian philosophy took place during the conference. As a result of a fruitful discussion, new scientific questions were raised. In the future, this will be able to substantially supplement Russian philosophical thought.
