Abstract

M. Bakhtin’s aesthetics of inbetweeness in many aspects anticipates the aesthetic turn in post-Husserlian phenomenology, associated in it with the problems of the life world and intersubjectivity. The category of inbetweeness allows us to look at the essence of aesthetic experience in many ways differently, revealing similarities to the ideas that were expressed by many of Husserl’s followers. Such closeness can be seen in the concepts of “distance” by J.-L. Marion, the “flickering” of M. Richir, the “super-passion” of Maldine and the “artistic vision” of M. Merleau-Ponty. Nevertheless, it seems that the category of inbetweeness more fully and strictly characterizes the essence of aesthetic experience. The authors, based on Bakhtin’s ideas, defi ne aesthetic experience and the experiences corresponding to it as beingfor oneself in the Other.
