Abstract

For V. K. Kantor, the idea of Russian Europeanism can be understood as follows. First of all, it is a Christian idea of personal freedom, dignity, moral responsibility, active position, self-realization. It is also respect for reason, a rational way of solving life's problems. It is the idea of a civilization that opposes barbarism and chaos. It is the understanding that Russia is not only geographically, but also culturally and politically a part of Europe (“is a European power”) and therefore can and should take the most active part in solving all European affairs.
