International Academic Conference “F.M. Dostoevsky and European Culture: 200 Years Since the Birth of the Great Russian Writer”. April 16–23, 2021. Overview
Abstract
The conference was organized by the International Laboratory for the Study of Russian and European Intellectual Dialogue (HSE University) and the State Museum of the History of Russian Literature “F. M. Dostoevsky’s museum apartment (Moscow)”. The presentations of the scholars were devoted to the life and work of the novelist in the intellectual and historical context of Europe: the discovery of Dostoevsky by Europe and the discovery of Europe by Dostoevsky; the reception of Dostoevsky’s texts through translations, personal contacts of Europeans with the writer, critical articles and scientifi c research; the intersections of traditions in the interpretation of Dostoevsky’s texts. The researchers presented the current results of their study of the works, the biography of the writer, and rare archival documents. The fruitful dialogue between the researchers allowed us to raise several significant problems. Further research into these problems in the future will make a significant
contribution to the study of Dostoevsky’s work and life.
